The Starving Activist is the sometimes-home for words. AR Neal (that’s me) finds them, cultivates them, and leaves them here. Enjoy.

Starving versus seeking...

So my husband (hopefully he will start writing here soon too...) wanted to know why I decided to use "starving" instead of "seeking" in the title of this space. There is an element of seeking in this journey: seeking equity, for example. However, there is a dramatic difference between being starved for equity and merely seeking it. When one is starved for something, he or she will go to lengths to obtain it. I could tell you that I am job seeking, which might get your attention; if I say I am starving for a job, you might pay a bit more attention. You might want to know from a place of empathy why I am starving for a job. When I finished explaining, he said, "That's what I thought, but I needed to hear you say it."His name is Christopher. Watch out for him.

"Christmas, Christmas time is here..."

Why a starving activist?
