November 9: Five Minute Winter

toesockMy friend, colleague, and fellow Southern Californian, Dr. Mark Scanlon-Greene, posted a photo about winter here. The image offered just the person's feet, in white socks and flip-flops. I commented that I have toe socks and that they were most appropriate for SoCal winters.I got up on Friday (one of three days we are permitted to water our lawns and plants in my town) and it was a bit chilly for my usual open shoe policy. The wind was blowing and I needed sleeves.Winter.Roll out the toe socks.However, after walking the perimeter, calling to a couple of stray dogs (one of whom was kind enough to leave a bit of fertilizer on my lawn), and rolling up the waterimg hose, I was over it. The socks had to come off.Winter lasted for five minutes. Well, 30 minutes in truth.And now you know.
