The Starving Activist is the sometimes-home for words. AR Neal (that’s me) finds them, cultivates them, and leaves them here. Enjoy.

Scribe's Cave Picture Prompt: Movin' On Up

Val was mewling again. "It looks so ... dirty! I mean, it used to be a construction site? Ew!"Oscar hated her at times like this. "I told you that it used to be a coal mine about a hundred years ago." He blew across the desk. "Look -- see that? All it will take is a little elbow grease and everything will be as good as new."She looked at her carefully painted nails. "And who's supposed to do all that?"He turned from her, pulled a crinkled document from his pocket, and squinted at it. Josh said something was still alive down at the bottom of the mine, but no one had been willing to go down. He folded the paper, put it back in his pocket, and turned to Val. "I'll take care of that, don't you worry. Listen, I need you to do something." He handed her a vid-phone. "Ride the elevator down to the bottom floor. Er, I heard there's a beautiful hot spring down there. You could make it a spa!"Val's eyes lit up. "Gimme that phone. I'll scout it out. I've always wanted my own spa!""Great," Oscar answered with a smile.
